Live Free Software was built from firsthand experience, not from a boardroom or a generic software template.
I'm Giles, the founder of Live Free Software. I grew up in Vermont, spent years building businesses and working across different industries, and eventually brought those experiences back to New England.
What started as software I needed for my own work has grown into a platform designed to help small businesses build a stronger online presence, manage their customers, and spend less time piecing together disconnected tools.
Based in Manchester, New Hampshire, Live Free Software is focused on helping small and service based businesses throughout New Hampshire and New England compete in an increasingly digital marketplace.
I spent about six years in Florida working in the music industry as an audio engineer. As my responsibilities grew beyond the studio, I needed a better way to manage the business side of working with artists.
That meant keeping track of websites, updating blog posts, managing social media, monitoring advertising campaigns, and helping artists understand how their latest releases were performing against what we were spending to promote them.
The problem was that everything lived in a different place.
One tool handled the website. Another handled customer information. Another handled marketing. Another handled analytics. Another handled communication.
I wanted one place where the important parts of running and marketing a business could work together.
So I started building it.
Eventually, my career expanded beyond music.
I started several labor based businesses of my own, and the software began serving an entirely different purpose. Instead of managing artists and releases, I was using it to help organize the everyday operations of small businesses.
That experience changed how I looked at business software.
Small business owners don't need technology simply because it has more features. They need tools that solve actual problems: a professional website, customer information in one place, easier communication, invoicing, payments, follow-up, marketing, reviews, and a clear understanding of what's working.
Those experiences became the foundation for what would eventually become Live Free Software.
In 2025, I realized that despite spending years away from Vermont, I hadn't actually experienced much of the country.
A college friend offered me an opportunity that changed that.
I began traveling across the United States helping set up temporary power infrastructure for festivals, sporting events, major news networks, and other large productions a job I still do today.
It gave me the opportunity to see communities and businesses throughout the country firsthand.
And eventually, it made something else clear:
I wanted to come home.

September 12, 2026 On top of the Brookfield Place complex in New York City, overlooking the reflecting pools, picking up some of our smaller cable after helping supply temporary power for news crews covering the 25th anniversary of September 11. Out of frame: roughly 200 feet of heavy three phase power cable running up the building to help keep the broadcasts powered.
Growing up in Vermont comes with a funny experience.
Tell someone you're from Vermont and there's a decent chance you'll hear:
"You're the first person I've ever met from Vermont."
Occasionally it's followed by something even better:
"Where is that ... near Nebraska?"
After years in Florida and traveling around the country, I moved back north to be closer to family, even knowing that my work would still regularly take me away from home.
Coming back also reminded me what makes this part of the country different.
New England is filled with independent businesses. Contractors. Shops. Restaurants. Salons. Tradespeople. Family businesses. People who built something because they're good at what they do.
And I started paying attention to how those businesses presented themselves online.
After moving back north, I spent hours looking through local business websites and Google Maps results throughout New Hampshire.
I noticed something I had seen very differently in Florida.
In many Florida markets, competition is intense.
Businesses in crowded industries are constantly fighting for attention online, which has pushed many of them to invest heavily in their websites, digital marketing, customer follow-up, and search visibility.
Throughout New Hampshire, I found plenty of excellent businesses whose online presence simply hadn't kept pace with the quality of the work they were doing.
Outdated websites. Poor mobile experiences. Difficult navigation. Weak calls to action. Businesses that were hard to find through Google despite having great reputations locally.
I didn't see that as a criticism of New Hampshire businesses.
I saw an opportunity.
If these businesses were already succeeding through their reputation, referrals, and quality of work, what could happen if their online presence finally reflected the business behind it?
That's when I decided to bring the software company back.
Live Free Software exists to give small businesses access to the kind of connected digital tools I wanted when I was running my own businesses.
For some companies, that starts with something simple:
a better website.
A modern website should clearly explain what you do, work properly on a phone, make it easy for customers to contact you, and give search engines the information they need to understand your business.
As the business grows, that website can become part of something larger customer management, forms, invoicing, payments, marketing, automation, reputation management, analytics, and other tools working together.
You shouldn't need a dozen disconnected systems just to run a local business.
That's the problem Live Free Software was built to solve.
Live Free Software is based in Manchester, New Hampshire, with an initial focus on helping businesses throughout Manchester and Southern New Hampshire improve how they show up online.
From Manchester, Bedford, Nashua, Concord, Derry, Londonderry and surrounding communities, our goal is to build long-term relationships with the businesses that make New England's towns and cities what they are.
As Live Free Software grows, so will the communities we serve throughout New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine.
But the philosophy won't change:
Modern software. Main Street values.
Technology should make running a small business easier—not make it feel less personal.
You don't need to replace everything about your business overnight.
If your website is outdated, difficult to use, poorly optimized for mobile devices, or simply doesn't represent the quality of your business anymore, that's a good place to start.
We'll take a look at what you have today, identify where opportunities are being missed, and show you what a stronger online presence could look like.
No unnecessary technical jargon. No pressure to buy tools you don't need. Just a conversation about your business and where your website can improve.
